Migrating from Casper Torus Wallet
The Casper Torus Wallet (https://casper.tor.us) will end its service on 30 September 2024. We strongly encourage all Casper Torus Wallet users to migrate their accounts to Casper Wallet to avoid losing access to their wallets.
This guide is designed to help Casper Torus Wallet users transition existing accounts to Casper Wallet. Casper Wallet offers all the core features of Casper Torus Wallet.
The following instructions demonstrate step-by-step how to download your Torus account and import it into Casper Wallet.
Migration Steps
Step 1: Export your secret key in Torus
First, login to your Casper Torus Wallet Account that you had previously created.
Once successfully logged in at the home page, navigate to the settings page.
At the settings page, click to view your account details.
You will be presented with your Private Key Settings.
At the private key settings, click to show your private key, then click to copy your private key over to your new Casper Wallet.
Step 2: Launch Casper Wallet
If you have not done so yet, download and install Casper Wallet. Launch the extension and complete the on screen instructions to set a password and create your wallet’s recovery phrase.
Step 3: Import keys into Casper Wallet
Once you’ve completed all on screen instructions and you have your new recovery phrase generated, click the ☰ button and select Import Torus account.
Next, you’ll be prompted with a summary of steps to export your secret key from the Torus wallet. Make sure you read all of the presented information by scrolling down if needed.
Then, click Next when you have your secret key ready to be imported.
You will be presented with the account details page where you can enter your Secret key and name your account for your convenience. After entering all required information, click Import to continue.
On the last screen, you will be greeted with a success message, and be informed that your account will be distinguished by an IMPORTED icon in the accounts list.
Congratulations! You have successfully imported your account from Casper Torus Wallet to Casper Wallet!
You can now select your newly imported account from the accounts list of Casper Wallet, and start using it to connect to dApps on Casper network.
